What is Olympique de Marseille?

Olympique de Marseille, commonly known as OM, is a French football club which was founded in 1899 under the leadership of René Dufaure de Montmirail. Having established its headquarters in Marseille, it is considered one of the most popular and successful clubs in France. OM is famous for its fiery atmosphere and its emblematic stadium, the Stade Vélodrome.

Over the years, OM has seen many gifted and memorable footballers such as Jean-Pierre Papin, Didier Deschamps, Fabien Barthez and, closer to us, Dimitri Payet. The club can boast an impressive track record, including victory in the Champions League in 1993, a feat never repeated by a French club to this day.
